Access Statement for Chilton Apartments & Cottages
Introduction
Chilton Apartments & Cottages consists of 4 apartments & 2 cottages forming part of Chilton House - a Grade II listed building circa 1600.
Pre-Arrival
• There are no telephone or text phone services available. In case of emergency there is a telephone at (onsite) reception.
• Chilton House is located 4 miles from Didcot.
• There is a bus service to Didcot & Oxford that stops right outside the accommodation (X32)

• Tesco & Sainsbury supermarkets in Didcot offer a home delivery service.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• there is a private car park at the accommodation.
• there are 2 designated parking spaces per apartment/cottage available.
• the tarmaced car park is flat & relatively smooth.
• There are PVR lights in the car park when arriving/departing in the dark.
• each self-catering unit is within 5 yards of a car parking space.
• all signage is clear.
• Contact phone numbers are available in the accommodation or at the Reception front door.
• for access to 'Lewis' Cottage there is a ramp with rails to the front door.
• for access to 'Tolkien' cottage there are 2 small steps to the front door.
• for access to 'Rutherford' & 'Halley' apartments there is no restrictions from car park to the front door.
• for access to 'Hawking' & 'Churchill' apartments access is gained through a porchway. There are 2 small steps to the front doors.
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
• Churchill + Hawking apartment communal porch area size: -
• External porch area:- door width: 90cm - step height: 5cm - step depth: 1.6m.
• Internal porch area:- door width: 80cm. Internal communal porch area: 1.6m x 1.5m.
• there is no access to Reception. There is a doorbell + contact phone numbers on the door to alert arrival/departure.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
• the only public area is the communal porch to the entrance of Hawking & Churchill apartments. The porchway contains a corse carpet plus shoe-rack as well as local information including phone numbers for Emergencies, local 24 hr chemist etc.

• Internal porch: Door width: 80cm. /- Area: 1.6m x 1.5m.
Laundry
• all washing machines are located in the kitchen areas. All are front loading. There is an internal clothes-horse for drying or there is an external clothes-line available in the gardens of Tolkien + Lewis.

• Halley Apartment:- when entering Halley you actually enter the kitchen/dining area first. The bathroom is through the kitchen door into the hallway on the left hand side next to the main family bedroom. The basin is to the left on entrance; the toilet is directly ahead. No support rails to the toilet. Power shower over bath + standard shower from bath taps.
• Roll-top bath. Vinyl floor.
• Door width: 70cm. /- gap between toilet & bath: 50cm. /-gap between basin & bath: 65cm. /- height of roll top bath: 60cm. /-height of toilet: 42cm. /-height of basin: 85cm.
• Rutherford Apartment:- the bathroom is up & to the right of a flight of stairs (the apartment is on the 1st floor of the main house). the basin is to the left on entrance; the toilet is directly ahead. No support rails to the toilet. Power shower over bath + standard shower from bath taps. Vinyl floor.
• Door width: 70cm. /- gap between toilet & bath: 65cm. mixer taps in bath not basin. /-usable area: 2.2m x 1.1m. /- toilet height: 40cm. /- basin height: 70cm. /- bath height: 40cm.

• Hawking Apartment:- the bathroom is up the 15 stairs from the front door to the landing, along the corridor up 2 further steps & on the right. The toilet is through a separate door further up the corridor & up a further 2 steps. Bathroom door width: 75cm. /- bath height 52cm. /- basin height 75cm. /- area: 2.65m x 1.4m. Power shower over bath + standard shower from bath taps. Vinyl floor. Toilet height: 40cm. /- door 75cm.
• Tolkien Cottage:- when entering Tolkien the bathroom is immediately in front of you. The basin is on the right; the toilet is directly ahead. No support rails to the toilet. Power shower over bath + standard shower from bath taps. Vinyl floor.

• Lewis Cottage:- when entering Lewis the bathroom is immediately on the left. The basin is on the left; the toilet is on the right (there is a handrail). The stand-in only shower unit is a corner unit:- max width when shower doors are open: 36cm. /- height of step into shower unit: 26cm. Gap between toilet + shower unit: 40cm. /- gap between toilet + basin: 60cm. Basin height: 85cm.
